Co-Op Story
Our Local Co-Op has a long and vital history in Larder Lake
In and around 1945 Romeo Paquette and his partner Emile Grenor moved their P&G store from 3 rd Avenue to its present location on Godfrey Street.
A few years later they purchased the Carters Cleaners location on the south side of the existing building.
The store was then converted to an IGA in 1955 which was then purchased by Gabby Paquette in 1990.
The business was sold as a cooperative in 1994 that is owned and controlled by its 300 members who are led by a democratic elected board that prioritizes community focused outcomes as well as financial stability.
Our little community CO-OP is an essential part of our town and surrounding communities offering a vital resource to our infrastructure.
